Deep in the rainforest, among the towering mountains of New Guinea, a group of British researchers are laying the groundwork for a new national park. But just as they are packing up their peaceful two-month mission, they are betrayed by a trusted local colleague and taken prisoner by an angry group of armed freedom fighters.

Now pawns in a violent political struggle, weeks turn into months as the group is marched ever deeper into the impassable terrain. When negotiations for their release collapse, the half-starved hostages find themselves in the midst of a brutal armed conflict. Not all of the captives will make it out alive.
