Cineflix launches Cineflix International

Montreal, 19 June 2002 – Cineflix is launching Cineflix International with the appointment of Paul Heaney as the managing director of its new London-based distribution company, Cineflix president Glen Salzman announced this week.
“Cineflix has a rapidly expanding library of programming with international appeal and Paul Heaney’s extensive experience in the distribution of factual entertainment will be a great asset to Cineflix’s growth internationally,” says Salzman.
“My priority at Cineflix International is to provide a strategic vision and overall direction for all sales and pre-sales and building up the breadth of opportunities for Cineflix,” says Heaney.
Paul Heaney has over a decade of experience in distribution, media sales and marketing in TV and radio. Heaney comes to Cineflix from BSKYB where he served as commercial director for the technology channel [.tv]. Prior to that he was the head of sales, for the factual division Wild & Real at Southern Star. He has also worked as sales manager at Explore International and in sales at NBC Europe and at CLT, for Atlantic 252.

In other international Cineflix news, Dan Chambers of Channel 5 has commissioned the new six-part one-hour series, Mayday. Discovery UK is expected to take the second window. Mayday explores the science of aeronautic technology and air safety through the recreation and investigation of near misses and major crashes. André Barro is the Cineflix executive in charge of production and Bryn Higgins of Stone City Productions is the series producer. Production begins in September. Mayday is a co-production with Galaxie Presse in France. Bernard Vaillot is the producer for Galaxie.
Donna Luke joins Cineflix as Production Supervisor
New Cineflix appointments in Canada, include Donna Luke, formerly of London, UK. Luke joins the Cineflix Toronto office this month as production supervisor on Pilot Season, a 13×30 series about actors striving to make it in Hollywood. Cineflix is producing the series for Living. Donna Luke has extensive experience in drama and documentary television in the UK and recently served as line producer on Edwardian Country House for Wall to Wall.
In the UK, the Cineflix series Dogs with Jobs (52×30) airs on the National Geographic Channel and Birth Stories (65×30) airs on Living.
