Cineflix UK announces four new television series

August 01, 2005

August, 2005 : Cineflix UK, the London based production company, has reported its first raft of commissions for UK broadcast since its inception in January 2005. The four factual entertainment series, which range in theme from crime to parenting, represent over 30 hours of programming.

Simon Lloyd, Managing Director of Cineflix UK, said of the commissions, “To achieve 30 hours of commissions in just six months is testament to the very talented team we have assembled in London and also reflects Cineflix’s excellent reputation for quality programming across a wide range of programming genres.”

First off the block is the 15×30 min series Psychics. Each episode tells a different true story of a dramatic crime solved through the unlikely combination of hi-tech detective work and the paranormal powers of a psychic. Psychics is commissioned by ITV 1 with co-production partners Discovery Europe, A & E Biography in the US and W Network in Canada. The series is currently in production in the UK, Canada and the US with a TX scheduled for January 2006. David Herman is the series producer.

The Final 24 is a 6×60 min documentary series that depicts the final hours leading up to death of such iconic figures as Sid Vicious. The Final 24 unlocks the hidden secrets, psychological flaws and dramatic events that led to their tragic and often gruesome deaths.

The final two commissions centre on a parenting theme. The 26 X 30 min series Birth Days is an emotional roller coaster of a series capturing parents-to-be before, during and after the birth of their child. With a particular emphasis on life just after birth, Birth Days will be unique in its genre in coming to grips with the reality of the aftermath of child birth as well as the birth itself and its preparation. The series will air on The Life Network in Canada and Living TV in the UK. Craig Colby is the series producer.

Finally, the Cineflix slate is rounded off by the AFP collaboration with baby food manufacturer, Cow and Gate for UKTV. The broadcaster’s first ever ad funded project is Baby Squad, a 10×30 min series presented by ex EastEnders favourite, Patsy Palmer. The program is a warm, witty and informative look at parenting with a unique format that takes parenting and baby programming to a new level. Richard Watsham is the series producer.
