Cineflix International strikes gold in Germany
September 01, 2004
September, 2004 : Cineflix International Ltd, the London-based international television distribution arm of Canadian production company Cineflix, has announced a set of deals to various broadcasters in Germany representing 78 hours of programming into the territory.
First off, Mayday, the 6×60 series that delves into the science behind the causes of recent air crashes, was licensed by ProSieben.
Mayday employs dramatic recreations to evoke the tense moments of flights in peril.
Mayday’s recent ratings performance has been very successful in territories where it has aired of late, exemplified in ratings data from NGCI which logged Mayday as one of the best performing series ever.
Paul Heaney, MD of Cineflix International said of the deals: “Germany is a tough market to crack as traditionally they have very high standards with regard to their programming. We think this success reflects how fortunate we are to have production values employed in our shows that match theirs.”
Then Kabel 1, Discovery Germany, licensed The Ultimates a documentary co-production about pushing speed and power to the limit introduced at MIPCOM 2003.
The Ultimates is a 6X1 hour technology series with “attitude”, co-produced by Cineflix in association IWC in Scotland and London-based One on One Productions and Pioneer Productions.
Zero Hour was also sold to Vox and finally Cineflix evergreen, Dogs With Jobs, continues to charm global audiences with series 2 and 3 going to Vox and 2, 3 and 4 going to AB Germany.
