Cineflix International marks first quarter trading with healthy sales
January 01, 2003
London, January 2003 - Cineflix International Ltd, the London-based international television distribution arm of Canadian production company Cineflix, has reported extremely healthy sales of its home grown product to the international market place, totaling well over 100 hours of programming in its first three months of trading.
Cineflix International was launched in the UK in the late summer of 2002 with the purpose of commercially exploiting productions from its parent company and from third party agreements and to develop Cineflix’s production capacity in the UK and Europe.
Paul Heaney, MD of Cineflix International commented on the sales, “Although these are early days for the company, the results are extremely encouraging considering we’re on the brink of announcing some brand new projects. It seems that we’ve got it right in that we have to continue to be very aware of broadcaster’s needs and trends. We have a real commitment to telling a good story through our programming.”
The deals span various productions from the home stable, namely Cineflix’s worldwide success, Dogs with Jobs, a documentary series on extraordinary dogs at work. The programme continues its 50-territory global romp with 39×30 episodes being snapped up by Danish terrestrial broadcaster DRTV.
Birth Stories “a revealing and inspirational reality TV series that interweaves stories of women as they live through one of life’s greatest and most defining experiences – having a baby,” has caught the eye of cabsat broadcaster Living TV in the UK.
The deal sees episodes Birth Stories 39-65 airing on the channel in the summer of 2003 as a follow-up to episodes 1-38 which have already aired on the channel. Additionally, the XYZ channel in Australia and Vitaya in Belgium have opted for 26 episodes with Noga in Israel going for 53 episodes.
Finally, Discovery Science in the US has struck a 13-episode deal for The Gene Hunters, a series that explores developments and quests in the field of genetics.
