On the hunt for more Dogs With Jobs! Hit series sniffs out new and different jobs!
July 01, 2001
MONTREAL – Summer 2001: Dogs with Jobs, the popular series on working canines, is seeking dogs with unusual jobs for its third season.
“There may be dogs out there with jobs we’ve never seen and we’d love to meet them,” says series producer Maura Kealey. “We’ve just heard about a dog who hunts for emu eggs. There’s another one who digs for bones at archeological sites. Maybe there are dogs who work in conservation or wildlife. We’re hoping to find dogs with jobs we’ve never even imagined”.
Dogs with Jobs has featured police dogs, search and rescue dogs, service dogs (such as seeing eye dogs), therapy dogs, herding dogs and many others. The series is now looking for dog stories that are out of the ordinary, dogs with duties that go beyond the realm of traditional canine jobs.
A few of the unusual dogs featured in the past two seasons include Tokkolos, the Jack Russell Terrier who has the job of being Mom to orphaned lion and cheetah cubs at a Namibian animal sanctuary; Ginny who rescues cats in New York City; Rio, the Portuguese water dog who retrieves balls batted into the Bay at San Francisco Giants games.
While many service dogs have been on the show, there are probably exceptional ones at work out there, dogs who have a particularly strong bond with their human partner, or a unique aspect to their work – and Dogs with Jobs would like to hear about them.
Dogs with Jobs travels around the world, sniffing out the best dog stories. Anyone with a dog doing an exceptional or even an eccentric job should write to penny@cineflix.com
Dogs with Jobs airs on Life Network in Canada, on PBS in the U.S. and on National Geographic International around the world. André Barro and Glen Salzman are the executive producers of Dogs with Jobs, a Cineflix production.
With offices in Montreal and Toronto, Cineflix is a leading documentary production company. In addition to Dogs with Jobs, current Cineflix series include Birth Stories, an intimate look at having a child and e-love, about couples clicking on the internet.
