eLOVE is in the air... and on the air! Popular Cineflix series eLOVE follows 26 new online couples

2nd season premiere airs January 18 on W.

MONTREAL – eLOVE, the first weekly television series to chronicle online couples from virtual romance to personal encounter, begins its second season Saturday, January 18, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. on W Network, the specialty television channel for women. Each new episode of eLOVE, produced by Cineflix, will repeat on Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. and again at 3:30 a.m.

In each half-hour episode of eLOVE, two cyber daters who have chatted and clicked their way into romance online, confront the challenge of facing each other and moving their virtual passion offline… Can virtual chemistry turn into real-life sparks?

“Imagine falling in love with a person you have never met,” says Glen Salzman, CEO of Cineflix and eLOVE co-executive producer. “Curiosity and attraction might make you want to cross oceans to meet that person. But then what? What we discovered in season one is that the fervent hope, great expectations, and sheer anxiety leading to that first date provided an incredibly dramatic situation that made terrific television. The drama heats up even more in season two.”

According to a recent MSN.CA study, of the 8 million Canadians on-line, over 1 million of them have dated on the Internet. eLOVE allows “virtual couples” to meet each other for the first time at a location of their choice for a three-day all expense paid rendezvous. The eLOVE camera records their encounter.

In episode one, Marc, a twice-married engineer and father in Fort Worth, Texas gets ready to sweep Las Vegas construction manager Jacey off her feet. But Jacey wants a family and Marc isn’t sure if he wants more children. Armed with roses and wine, Marc travels to Vegas, unaware that Jacey has another Internet lover waiting in the wings… a man as eager to start a family as she is. eLOVE also features Canadian Internet daters, including 32-year-old Terri from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan who has started an on-line romance with a 32- year-old mountain climber from San Diego, and 38-year-old Vancouver native Robert, who has fallen for a woman who lives in Arlington, Washington.
eLOVE executive producer is André Barro. Glen Salzman, Katherine Buck and Tom Parkhouse are co-executive producers. Cesca Eaton is the series producer. eLOVE is produced by Cineflix in association with W Network and Oxygen Media in the United States, with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund (LFP), The Quebec Film and Television Tax Credit Administered by SODEC and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit administered by CAVCO.
