More great dogs. More amazing jobs - Season three of Dogs with Jobs from Cineflix

January 03, 2002

Premieres on LIFE February 18, 2002.

MONTREAL, January 3, 2002: Dogs with Jobs are training grizzlies to stay out of populated areas; tracking endangered bats; busting termites; herding emu and working in forensics. The third season of the acclaimed series Dogs with Jobs returns to the Life Network Monday, February 18 at 6:30 p.m. ET, repeating Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The third season of Dogs with Jobs features 21 new jobs and 15 breeds never before seen on the show. These breeds include a Catalan sheep dog in the Spanish Pyrenees, a Pumi who herds in Hungary and a Japanese Shiba Inu who’s the CEO of a Toronto boutique. Dogs with Jobs, Season Three tracks down working dogs in the Scottish Highlands, Northern Italy, the Arizona desert, the Florida swamps, and the San Francisco Valley.

Dogs are also hard at work in Canada. Fudge a young golden Lab, trained in Quebec, has just been paired with Jesse, an active 11-year-old from a farm in Sundridge, Ontario, and the youngest person ever to get a seeing-eye dog. In Ottawa, Paugan motivates stroke victims struggling with speech therapy. Kenny in Gander, Newfoundland is a hearing dog for a busy mom with profound hearing loss. Rocky is the renowned singing dog of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Lucy is a bear ranger in New Denver B.C. who keeps people out of bear territory. In Vancouver, Vasala is one of the hardest working dogs in show business; Chokydar, based in Stratford, Ontario, plays a Russian estate dog in Chekhov’s The Seagull.

Other dogs with remarkable jobs in Season Three are Eagle, a Doberman mix who’s a forensics specialist, able sniff out traces of ancient bone. Birba, a poodle cross, hunts white truffles – more valuable than some semi-precious stones – in Italy’s Piemonte mountains. Tillamook Cheddar, a Jack Russell terrier, is an artist whose paintings are selling well in NYC.

Each half-hour episode of Dogs with Jobs features three great stories and captures the dog’s point-of-view. In episode one, Tuffy, a Karelian bear dog, tracks bears who come too close to human populations, then “shepherds” them to safety; while Lulu, a golden retriever, soothes special needs children at a pre-school and Wiley, a border collie cross, keeps a Coast Guard Base free of the seagulls who are a threat to search and rescue helicopters.

André Barro is the executive producer of Dogs with Jobs; co-executive producers are Glen Salzman, David York and Katherine Buck. Maura Kealey is series producer-writer on the series and Shelley Tepperman is story producer-writer. Dogs with Jobs is produced by Cineflix in association with Life Network and Canal D and with the assistance of the Quebec Minister of Revenue Tax Credit Program and the Government of Canada Film Tax Credit Program.

Cineflix, a leading producer of non-fiction programming, has offices in Montreal and Toronto and produces 40 hours a year of compelling documentary story-telling.
